Indeed, SOM faculty have demonstrated a strong commitment to shared governance and decision-making that has and will shape the future of the University, Health System, and SOM. Faculty have a number of ways in which to get involved including SOM standing committees, the UVA Faculty Senate, and the UVA General Faculty Council.

The University of Virginia School of Medicine is committed to conducting its affairs in ways that support our Mission Statement and promote our Values. All members of the University of Virginia School of Medicine community are responsible for sustaining the highest ethical standards of excellence, integrity, honesty, and fairness and for integrating these values into teaching, research, patient care, business practices, and other services. Ethical conduct is a fundamental expectation for every one of us every day.

The Code of Conduct applies to all members of the UVA SOM community, including our faculty, staff, volunteers, contractors, agents, affiliates, and others providing services to UVA SOM or on behalf of UVA SOM.

UVA General Faculty Council

The University of Virginia General Faculty Council (GFC) represents full and part-time non-tenure track faculty and the senior professional research staff. The Council exists to represent the interests of these constituents to the University, to advise the University on matters pertaining to these constituents, and to provide service to the University.
