Frequently Asked Questions
The benefits of membership in the Academy are outlined here.
Details regarding the application materials and timeline are included on the Membership page. Applications are reviewed by the Academy’s Membership Committee. Applications will be considered for review twice annually: fall and spring. Candidates who meet Academy membership eligibility requirements as determined by the Membership Committee are inducted into the Academy. While fall and spring inductees are honored at a single event during the academic year, membership benefits begin as soon as a candidate is inducted into the Academy.
Please review the membership application timeline here.
Please review the expectations required of each of the Academy’s membership types here.
The types of activities and service that count toward meeting membership requirements are described in the expectations section for each membership type here.
With the founding of the Academy, the faculty who had previously held membership in the Academy of Distinguished Educators (ADE) will automatically be granted an initial membership into the Academy without an application. Continued membership will require renewal after 3 years with documentation of service and participation in Academy activities.
The Academy’s Executive Board consists of the Director of the Academy, the Chairs of each of the Academy’s committees (Membership, Educator Development, and Building Community), and the Director of the Center for Medical Education Research and Scholarly Innovation (MERSI).
