Departmental Action Plans

  1. Foster relationships and connections across the School of Medicine by inviting members of other departments to our departmental faculty meetings, Resident Research Day, and other departmental functions
  2. Deconstruct research silos by actively encouraging interdisciplinary research programs
  3. Distribute Children’s Hospital mugs and lunchboxes to instill price-of-place
  4. Create faculty and staff feedback and engagement group to host various events to improve faculty and staff engagement (e.g., ice cream social, birthday recognitions, work anniversaries, new employee welcome events, etc.)
  5. Distribute “kudos cards” to faculty and staff as contributed by their peers; read “kudos cards” at staff meetings
  6. Publicly emphasize mentorship through recognition of outstanding mentorship at an annual faculty meeting
  7. Host Annual Celebratory Faculty Meeting to highlight accomplishments of the past year
  8. Celebrate department faculty, staff, and students via email, in faculty meetings, and in other settings who have successfully competed for grants, published papers, and recruited students and postdocs to the lab
  9. Send welcome emails to new students and postdocs
